We have exciting news! Liftmaster and Amazon have partnered together to bring you Key for Garage deliveries which allow in-garage deliveries of packages for Amazon Prime users. Package thieves are a big problem so Amazon introduced Amazon Key, allowing deliveries to be left in your home.
We know what you’re thinking. Does the idea of giving a stranger access to your home get you feeling a little uneasy? To solve this problem Liftmaster and Amazon came up with the Key for Garage concept. This will be available to Amazon Prime users later in 2019.
How Does it Work?
The Amazon delivery person comes to your home, scans the package and verifies that he is at the correct location with the correct order. Then Amazon opens your garage door and your package is left inside the garage. Then Amazon closes the garage door before the delivery person leaves. You as the customer can monitor the process using the Key app. You can see when the package is en route, when it arrives and when the garage door is shut. If you install Cloud Cam you can watch everything as it happens.
What Do I Need to Get Started?
Key to Garage delivery will only work with MyQ Chamberlain or Liftmaster garage door openers or you can install the MyQ Smart Garage Hub which adds connectivity to existing openers. The MyQ technology will let Amazon talk to your garage door opener so that it can be opened by a delivery person. You can purchase Liftmaster and Chamberlain openers with MyQ technology and MyQ Hub from your local garage door dealers, off of Amazon, or at some hardware stores. The garage door openers range in price depending on the size and type of opener you choose. The Hub will run you about $80 and if you want the Amazon Cloud Cam it will cost you another $120. The app is free so once you have the equipment installed you are ready to enjoy safe deliveries. Don’t forget that you need to be an Amazon Prime member!
What Else Can I Do With MyQ technology and Hub?
MyQ Technology allows you to use your smartphone to open and close your garage from anywhere in the world! You receive alerts when your garage opens and shuts. You can also set customized times that your garage door will close. Not only can you have control over deliveries but you can use the MyQ app to let in family, friends and other service personnel into your garage. No need to buy extra remotes either because your family can all open the garage with their smartphones! The MyQ app allows you to do much more and can be connected to Homelinc, Google assistant, IFTTT and Wink.
Future Delivery Options
Once you have everything set up and ready to go you can sit back and relax knowing that your packages will be safely delivered to your garage. With the Key for Garage delivery Key app, you can monitor deliveries and even instruct delivery persons on where to leave the packages in your garage. Amazon is also working with Alexa so in the future, you can have Alexa check on your garage packages for you. The Liftmaster and Amazon partnership to develop the Key for Garage delivery will benefit Amazon customers in deliveries and also get more customers using MyQ technology. It’s a win-win for everyone!!
